Once the deadline is over, our team of judges will carefully review all the submissions and announce the winners via our social media channels. The winning stories will also be featured on our website and social media pages, giving you the chance to showcase your work to a wider audience.

Some examples of stories you may submit are:

  1. A historical recounting of Mark Twain’s exploits in the state of Nevada.
  2. A satirical story in which Mark Twain becomes the President of the United States and must navigate the complex political landscape of Washington D.C. while dealing with eccentric advisors and enemies.
  3. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn travel through time to the future, where they encounter robots, flying cars, and other futuristic technology. They must navigate this strange new world and find a way back home.
  4. A story in which Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn find a mysterious map that leads them on a treasure hunt across the country, encountering eccentric characters and dangerous situations along the way.
  5. A story about a young woman who travels back in time to meet Mark Twain, only to find herself caught up in his romantic exploits and scandalous affairs.
  6. A horror story in which a group of travelers are stranded in a haunted hotel in Virginia City, where they encounter the ghosts of Mark Twain and his contemporaries, who reveal dark secrets about their lives and deaths.
  7. A time-travel comedy in which a group of tourists accidentally bring Mark Twain back to the present day, where he struggles to adapt to modern technology and culture while trying to find a way back to his own time.

Eligibility: The competition is open to all writers of any age and nationality.

  1. Theme: All stories must be inspired by the works of Mark Twain, his characters, or his life.
  2. Format: Stories can be submitted in any format (short story, screenplay, play, etc.)
  3. Length: Stories must be between 500-3000 words in length.
  4. Originality: All entries must be original, previously unpublished works that have not won any previous contests or awards.
  5. Submission: All entries must be submitted via our website at nvstorytellers.org by Monday, May 1st at noon. Late entries will not be considered.
  6. Judging: Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, writing style, and adherence to the theme.
  7. Winners: Winners will be announced via our social media channels and contacted directly. The winning stories will be featured on our website and social media pages.
  8. Rights: By submitting an entry, the writer grants us the right to publish and showcase the story on our website and social media pages. The writer retains all other rights to their work.
  9. Prize: The winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
